13) True Love                   12) The Next Level

Heal me and handle me with care.
Heal me, it's love I want to share.
            Take me into your arms.
I promise always to be there.

Magic: you cast a spell upon me.
Magic: I wish to last for eternity.
We released love from the bottle.
I hope you wish to stay with me.

Your love gonna open up my heart.
Your love gonna give me a running start.
I'll race you up the mountain.
I'll face you with my open heart.

                                                                                    Malcolm Mohil
                                                                                    "The Mountain"

"It's amazing what happens when two people decide to share their sexual lives together," Malcolm was telling Jason. "We were close before, but now it's like we're one organism."

           "Do you like that?"

"What do you mean? The sex?"

"No! I know you like the sex. I mean, do you like feeling like one organism? Some people freak out when that happens, like they've lost their identify. I remember having crush on a girl and after we had sex, I was disgusted by her. I was repelled to be with her. It was so weird. I liked her a lot, but she become so clingy. I felt like I lost my freedom so I dumped her."

"Dude, that sucks! I'm sure you must've devastated her, you asshole."

"Yeah, I'm an asshole," Jason admitted. "But I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't know she was going to try to commit suicide. Believe me, I learned my lesson and had my heartbreaks come back to me. My point is, though, sometimes when you get to that stage of feeling like one organism it can end the relationship if one of the partners isn’t ready for that step."

"I'm still in love with Becky. It's not a crush, though. I think it's true love. So, I'm not bothered by feeling like we're one organism."

"Then you know what I feel like with Steph. We are one organism. Welcome to Heaven, my friend."

"Well, I don't think I'm where you are, but thanks for the encouragement."

           "How does Becky feel?"

"Well, we haven't talked about it that much, actually. We haven't analyzed our relationship in a while."

"You might want to. If she isn't feeling like she's one organism, you may have a problem. That's how Steph and I were, only she felt we were one organism and I was afraid to. That's why she wanted to get married and I hesitated. Have you thought about marrying Becky?"

"Yes," Malcolm admitted. "I've fantasized about proposing to her. Actually, I did fantasize about that the first night I met her, when you proposed to Steph. But I'm not counting that. Since I've felt like we're one organism, I've dreamed about spending my life with her."

"Man, Mal, she's got you hooked. This is tricky because if you tell her this and she isn't feeling the same way, she might get scared. On the other hand, it's good to know how she's feeling. I'd suggest asking her, but be discreet about the fullness of your feelings."

Malcolm thought about that and decided he would talk with Becky that night. He left Jason's and headed straight for Becky's place.

"Hi, love!" Becky said as she greeted him at the door. "Guess what I have for you?"

           "A big kiss?"

"Of course," she said then gave him a big kiss, "but what else?"

Malcolm wondered what it could be as he sat down on the couch.

"Think back to our first night together."

           "A cold ale."

           She shook her head.

"A football team!" Malcolm said. "Oh Baby, you shouldn't have!"

           "Guess again."

Malcolm suddenly had an image in his head. His heart raced.

           "Are you serious?"

           "Completely."

He wondered if they were thinking the same thing, then asked, "How have you been feeling since we've opened ourselves up to each other?"

"Like I've never felt about anybody before. I feel as if I am you. I feel as if we're one."

           "Like we’re one organism?"

           "Yes."

Malcolm's eyes began to tear. Becky was touched and reached out to caress his face. "Have you guessed what I have for you?"

           "Yes. It's a ring."

"Very good! Is it because you guessed, or you knew?"

"I had a vision and a feeling. I wouldn't have guessed you wanted to give me a ring."

She pulled out the ring to show him. It was silver with a simple design engraved around it. "This ring symbolizes my devotion to you. This ring symbolizes my commitment to making our relationship the most ideal relationship that’s ever been. If you accept this ring you hold my soul and my love. I expect you to treat them with kindness and respect, as if they were your own. Can I place this ring on your finger?"

"I hope it fits," Malcolm said as he stretched out his hand.

As she placed the ring around his finger, they both felt an incredible burning inside. They gazed into each other’s eyes until the fire consumed them. They celebrated with a night of love making.
