C     F     C     F          Uncle Reynolds was the talk of the town.

C  Am    G     F          People used to come from miles and miles around.

C     F     C     F          Just to see him dance and sing a song.

Am  G    F                   All the children would clap as they sang along.

C     F     C     F          They’d sing, ‘La la la la la la la la la la la la la.

C     F     C     F          La la la la la la la la la la la la la.’

C     F     C     F          Uncle Reynolds played a banjo and it was a beauty to behold.

C  Am    G     F           Made of the finest wood, it had 5 strings made of gold.

C     F     C     F          To all it was known throughout the land

Am  G    F                  for its magic sound in Uncle Reynolds’ hand

C     F     C     F          when he’d sing, ‘La la la la la la la la la la la la la.

C     F     C     F          La la la la la la la la la la la la la.’

C     F     C     F          On Sunday we would gather at the village green.

C  Am    G     F          We’d all join hands and dance beneath the big elm tree.

C     F     C     F          Uncle Reynolds played us songs of joy and love.

Am  G    F                  Together we would dance into the setting sun.

C     F     C     F          and we’d sing, ‘La la la la la la la la la la la la la.

C     F     C     F          La la la la la la la la la la la la la.’

C     F     C     F          Now those days are gone and the years have flown swiftly by

C  Am    G     F          Just as children dance and laugh so must old men die.

C     F     C     F          Uncle Reynolds is gone.  Only memories remain.

Am  G    F                  But in my heart I can hear his banjo play.

C     F     C     F          ‘La la la la la la la la la la la la la.

C     F     C     F          La la la la la la la la la la la la la.’
