The Tree Song

C   F C       There's a tree outside my window that's 32 feet tall

C   F G         and every year after they have grown its leaves begin to fall.

C   F Am    This coincides with longer nights and cooler, crisper days

C   G C       and always keeps me wondering about the tree's mysterious ways.

Chorus:

F   C           Please tell me tree, why do you shed your shiny deep green coat,

Am  G         when all us other animals add another layer of clothes?

F C F Am  You surrender to cool winter's grip, the ice winds from the north

F C G C      and bear the bitter consequence of Nature's cyclic coarse.

Jam verse/chorus

C   F C       There's a tree outside my window that bounces in the breeze

C   F G         and every year its leaves return after winter's last deep freeze.

C   F Am    This coincides with shorter nights and warmer, wetter days

C   G C       and always keeps me wondering about the trees mysterious ways.

Chorus:

F   C           Please tell me tree, why do you grow what you have shed before?

Am  G         Did you decide it's time to bask in the sunny spring day glow?

F C F Am  And feed all us animals with oxygen for free

F C G      and give us shed and shelter, too?  I thank you, my dear

C  F  G tree.

C  F  G
