D                Through the currents of Columbia,

Dm    D      the Salmon made their way.

D                On the shoreline of the River,

Dm    A      the Natives sat and prayed.

D                It was that way since time began,

G       Em   maybe longer still.

D                But now that's just a memory

Dm     D     since the Salmon run was killed.

A        D     The dams damned the run.

A million fish once swam upstream, dieing just to spawn.

Cycling nutrients from the Sea, but now they're almost gone.

Providing food for Birds and Bears, even Humans had their fill.

But now that's just a memory since the Salmon run was killed.

Clearcuts cut the run.

D            Salmon       {repeat and jam}

From the precipice of extinction, the Salmon gaze our way.

Tomorrow is too late if they disappear today.

The Forest will cry, the Ocean will sigh unless we find the will,

we'll have a tragic memory f the Salmon run is killed.

Saviors save the run.
