Safe and Secure

D   A        I am told that long ago

G   D        men were men and women were gold.

D   A        All was pure as fallen snow.

G   D        God would save us.  That’s all we had to know.

G   D D7 Now that’s all gone away. 

E    A         And so we blame it on the passing of the day.

D   A        Once we were safe and secure. 

G   D       Now it seems nobody’s sure.

D   A    Times were when we knew

G   D     the villains wore red and the heroes wore blue.

D   A Wrong was wrong and right was right.

G   D D7 The good guys always won in the heat of the fight.

G   D  Now that’s all disappeared.

E    A    And so we live with all that

D   A   we once never feared.

D   A    Once we were safe and secure. 

G   D    Now it seems nobody’s sure.

D   A We were brave and we were young.

G   D   We met every challenge. Each and every one.

D   A    We stood tall and we stood strong.

G   D D7 The whole world gathered ‘round us and sang our nation’s song.

G   D   Now that’s all done and said.

E    A   And so we look behind for all we had ahead.

D   A    Once we were safe and secure. 

G   D Now it seems nobody’s sure.
