My Lucky Card

D                       My name is Carmine, I am Caucasian.

G    D              I've lived in L.A. since I was 3.

G    D              I graduated from Pali High School

A    D              back in Nineteen Ninety Three.

G    D              The only problem besides the smog

G    A              is the crime and poverty.

D                       I don't care though, I've lots of friends.

A    D              I care for them, they care me.

 

D                       I have a girlfriend, her name is Carla

G    D              she has blonde hair and a dimpled smile.

G    D              She calls me over.  I bring her flowers. 

A    D              she calls me darling.  We've sure got style.

G    D              The only problem:  she doesn't Love me. 

G    D              She only wants me to keep her warm.

D                       I don't care 'cause she lets me hold her. 

A    D              We're just shelter from the storm

 

D                       I have a day job in Culver city. 

G    D              I make ten fifty, that's not so bad.

G    D              I work for ChemCo.  They make detergent to

A    D              clean your carpets so you'll feel glad.

G    D              The only problem:  it takes an hour to go from

G    D              Carla's to ChemCo's site.

D                       I don't care though, it's worth the effort knowing

A    D              I won't have a lonely night.

 

D                       I have a pick up I use to pick up my

G    D              surfer buddies.  We're gonna ride big waves.

G    D              Today I'm going with my friend Guido.  He looks like

A    D              Jesus.  He never shaves.

G    D              The only problem:  the water's dirty.  The cities

G    D              sewer dumps in the sea.

D                       I don't care 'cause the waves are rolling.  It's the

A    D              only time that I feel free.

 

D                       Sometimes I gamble.  Sometimes I worry.  Sometimes I

G    D              wonder which cards to keep.

G    D              I've broken even. I've even won some.  I've losts my

A    D              car keys. I've lost some sleep.

G    D              The only problem:  it's addicting.  Win or

G    D              lose, I'll play again.

D                       I don't care though, I'll be right over.  I'll bring a

A    D              six-pack.  Just deal me in.

 

E                       You may have guessed now, I've got the good life.

A    E              I have everything a guy could need.

A    E              I'm surrounded by creature comforts.

B    E              I don't feel guilty that I've got greed.

A    E              The only problem is this depression

A    B              that seems to seep in when I think hard.

E                       I don't care though, I'll just go surfing

B    E              or dream of playing my lucky card.
