Am Em Am intro

Am Em Am
Sailing on a ship bound for an island.
Am Em Am Deciding it was time to get away.
Am Em    Plenty of provisions.
G Am     Everything I need.
G D      No one to hear anything I
Em       say.

Am Em Am Lightning flashes as the sun is smothered.
Am Em Am Thunder rolls in with the wind and waves.
Am Em   Shaken off my feet,
G Am     Everything spins round.
G D       Next thing I am hoping I’ll be
Em       found.

Am Em Am Floating upon pieces of my vessel.
Am Em Am Drifting towards the shore with weariness.
Am Em    My body hits the sand.
G Am     Everything seems dead.
G D      The only thing I have now is this
Em       dread.

G D Am   Stranded all alone on my island.
G D Am   My compass and companion’s left behind.
G D Am   In front of me are hours of isolation
G D Em   and tons of sand to count the passing time.

Am Em Am
Now I know how many grains of sand
Am Em Am it takes to fill the emptyness inside.
Am Em    I’ve made my own island
G Am     where I have now been blown.
G D       One day I will find my own way
Em       home.

Am Em Am Deepening the feeling of compassion.
Am Em Am Breaking up what’s frozen in my soul.
Am Em    The salty water burns through
G Am     everything we know.
G D       Nothing can escape it when it
Em       flows.

G D Am   Stranded all alone on my island.
G D Am   My compass and companion’s left behind.
G D Am   In front of me are hours of isolation
G D Em   and tons of sand to count the passing time.
