C  G  C  G      In my garden   I’m growin’ food

C  G  C  G      for my family  and also you.

C            G     You are an arthropod,  just a tiny bug,

G    D    G       but I guess even an insect’s gotta grub.

C  G  C  G      I do not like     the holes you leave

C  G  C  G      in my arugula  and spinach leaves.

C            G      You don’t discriminate             on which plants you’ll feed.

G    D    G       I relate ‘cause them I also eat.

Chorus:

C        G          The plants plant their roots into the soil

C        G  D     after sproutin’ out  from a seed.

G        C    G   We’ve been selectin’  so many different kinds

C    D   G         and humans aren’t   the only ones who feed.

C  G  C  G      I try my best   to keep the pests

C  G  C  G      from eatin’      all my plants.

C            G      But there ain’t no way            to keep all of them off.

G    D    G       and sprayin’ pesticides           ain’t worth the cost.

C  G  C  G      So I’ve learned                        to live with holes

C  G  C  G      and my yield’s                        not always full.

C            G     The cost of doin’ business       includes some casualties.

G    D    G       This raises the value of quality.

{chorus}

C  G  C  G      In my garden               I’m growin’ food

C  G  C  G      I’m growin’ food,        I’m growin’ food,

C  G  C  G      I’m growin’ food,        for me and you.

C  G  C  G      In my garden               I’m growin’ food

C  G  C  G      Feed.               {repeat}
